Movement & poetry workshops

In collaboration with Saili Katebe

Divija and Saili have been offering movement and poetry workshops to different communities across the UK. The aim of the workshop is to create an opportunity for self-expression through movement and poetry, using some of the tools that they used to explore the themes of their show 'One Foot in the Dark'.

They have been researching and developing accessible workshops that can cater to people interacting with either movement, poetry or both for the first time. The workshops include games using different props, movement exercises, guided improvisation, writing prompts, and using the writing/ poetry to create movement.

Some of the groups they have engaged so far includes older age groups, migrant and refugee groups, people facing homelessness, and dance/ poetry groups. They received a grant from West of England Combined Authority to deliver a series of workshops in the South West, and have also taken these workshops to Bradford, working with Kalasangam Arts Centre to reach different communities.

The workshops can be 90-120 minutes long and catered towards 15-20 participants in each session.
